Why Roaches Can Keep Appearing in a Clean Apartment

Roaches can move between apartments through gaps around pipes, cabinets and shared walls. Her family suspected the neighboring units, but inspection would be needed to establish the source. Report repeated sightings to property management so affected areas can be checked together.

Identification matters. American cockroaches often occupy damp places, including basements and sewers, and can enter buildings. German cockroaches live and reproduce indoors, often near kitchens, food and water. Knowing which roach is present helps direct the inspection.

Keep food sealed, clean crumbs and grease, remove trash and have leaks repaired. Ask property management about suitable repairs to gaps around pipes and cabinets. Cleaning helps reduce food and water, but a connected-building problem may need attention beyond one apartment.
